Cabana Bay Beach Resort

Universal Orlando’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort welcomed its first guests in March 2014. With its sleek, curved lines and bold patterns and colors, the hotel harkens back to mid-20th century tourism when the roadside motor court was king. Throughout the property, designers have taken great care to completely immerse visitors in vintage 1960s, “Mad Men” style experience with a contemporary twist starting from the shuttle bus drop-off right down to the fifties inspired payphones, furniture, lighting, and bathroom amenities.

In collaboration with Lindsay Pope Brayfield Clifford & Associates and Daroff Design, CD+M designed lighting for all of the interior public spaces and exterior facades, landscape and expansive pool decks for this 1,800 room hotel, built in less than 18 months.

Named as the “one of the most Instagrammed hotels in the world” in 2015, based on user data from Instagram, including establishments in picturesque destinations such as Hawaii, Dubai, and New York City.
