GSA Social Security Administration HQ

The $230 million US General Services Administration building houses more than 2,200 employees in nearly 600,000 SF. More than a traditional office development, the facility features a Main Street that includes a variety of unique administrative and employee spaces including a fitness center, high-tech mail center, full-service cafeteria, child-care center, credit union and auditorium. The area functions as the central focal point of the development, encouraging employee interaction to cultivate a positive workplace.

Working with developer Opus South and HOK, CD+M designed the building’s interior public spaces and supported the team in achieving LEED Silver certification on this expansive project. The project was awarded a Best of the Best Design Award in the Government Category by IIDA Georgia, and a Design Excellence Award by ASID Georgia, in addition to a Merit Award by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA).
