Universal Orlando’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort welcomed its first guests in March 2014. With its sleek, curved lines and bold patterns and colors, the hotel harkens back to mid-20th century tourism when the roadside motor court was king. Throughout the property, designers have taken great care to completely immerse visitors in vintage 1960s, “Mad Men” style experience with a contemporary twist starting from the shuttle bus drop-off right down to the fifties inspired payphones, furniture, lighting, and bathroom amenities.
In collaboration with Lindsay Pope Brayfield Clifford & Associates (Architect) and Daroff Design (Interior Designer), CD+M designed lighting for all of the interior public spaces and exterior facades, landscape and pool decks for this 1,800 room hotel, built in less than 18 months.
